We need 800 volunteers for this national
PGA of America event that is so big it takes both our courses!
The best PGA club pros in the country and the Golf Channel will converge on Santa Ana and Twin Warriors on June 28th through July 1st, 2009. The winner of this event, plus the top finishers, will earn berths in the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.
For a Volunteer Fee of $50, all volunteers will receive a 2009 PNC Logo Shirt and Hat, access to the grounds all week and breakfast and lunch on your shift days. Volunteers who work a minimum of two shifts on two separate days will receive two (2) rounds of golf including cart, one at Twin Warriors and one at Santa Ana. (Monday - Thursday all day, Friday,Saturday & Sunday after 12:00 PM. Golf certificates will be good for one year after tournament). All applications must be received by May 30th, 2009. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to apply, with the exception of standard bearer.

Volunteer Committees and Descriptions

Card Copy
|
This committee copies the player’s scorecards after 18 holes to assist the scoring system
|
|
Shuttle
|
This committee will shuttle volunteers and in some cases, players, from parking areas to golf course. Must be comfortable driving an 8-10 passenger van.
|
|
Contestant Evacuation
|
Vans and shuttle carts will be stationed in different areas on the course in the vent that players need to be evacuated. These volunteers will hold keys to vehicles and remain in the area where the vehicles are staged during their shift.
|
Standard Bearers *
(age minimum-- 16)
|
Adult members of this committee will work with the junior volunteers to prepare the standards (small scoreboards) and junior volunteers will carry the standards for each group of contestants.

Leader Boards
|
This committee will be responsible for posting the player’s scores on the leader boards located throughout both golf courses
|
Tee Refreshments **
|
This committee will stock coolers with product, ice the coolers down and deliver them to the starting tees and par 3 holes during practice rounds, and also to scoring areas during tournament rounds.
|
|
Marshals
|
Marshals will be assigned to various holes and areas of the courses. They will assist with spotting player's balls, marking ball locations in the rough, gallery control and ease the flow of movement for players and caddies.

Volunteer Services Tent
|
Maintain the volunteer tent with duties such as give directions and help volunteers find their committees, as well as check-out/check-in committee radios.

Public Score/
Summary Board
|
Sunday & Monday
volunteers read 18 hole score totals from players's scorecards to the caligrapher. Tuesday & Wednesday volunteers will post the players' hole by hole scores on the Scoresheets.

Walking Scorers
|
One Walking Scorer will be assigned to walk with each group of players and will be required to keep the player’s scores, as well as selected statistics. Walking scorers Walking scorers must have golf experience and a handicap of 18 or lower is suggested, but not mandatory. If there is a question, the committee chairman will make the final determination.

Scoring Control
|
Determines which 10 players scores will be displayed on the on-course leaderboards and maintains the manual leaderboard. The committee utilizes radios and a clear speaking voice is required. Volunteers will check stats from walking scorers and updates on weather or suspensions of play..
|
