Our programs offered to children from 5 to 18 years of age.  Our teaching staff is composed of PGA/LPGA Professionals and we maintain a group golf lessons teacher/student ratio of 1 to 10.  There will be small class sizes of 15 to 20 students per class and golf equipment will be furnished if needed.   All programs in the SAGA include a component of Life Skills and understanding the importance of responsibility to self, the game and others!

SAGA Academies  – Tuition range $75-$199.  These programs consist of 3 to 5 day sessions in which juniors to receive in-depth instruction on fundamentals, full swing, short game, pre & post shot routine, effective practice, basic playing skills & etiquette and depending on the level, game management, shot making & more. There are academies designed for each level.

“SNAG” Academies are for introductory students 5-7 years old and the program uses fun “SNAG” equipment which consists of plastic clubs and tennis balls before introduction to regular golf clubs.  Parents are encouraged to help instructors with control focus of their children during these academies.

SAGA Summer Playing Sessions  -  Tuition $90.  These sessions are aimed at the Beginner level golfer and are designed to teach juniors golfers how to play the game.  The sessions consist of 3 days of structured play on the 3 hole course and enable juniors to get into the mode of moving around the course efficiently.

SAGA Team Playing Sessions – Tuition $10 per session (6 session total).  The Team Playing Sessions are each Wednesday evening at 5pm starting July 6th thru August 10th.  They are designed Intermediate to Advanced students who can play 9 holes on their own and have participated in other 2011 SAGA programs.  The format will be similar to a high school team practice with a variety of game management aspects alone with tips on competition, shot making on the course and different formats.  The students will play with the Coach on selected holes for more in-depth learning and skills assessment.

SAGA Practice Sessions – TUITION -$10 per session for remaining sessions (call Grant Dalpes to reserve a spot each week)  – The Practice Sessions are a great way to get structured practice in each week.  The session are each Tuesday & Thursday, June 7th through August 4th , from 5:30pm to 7:0pm.  Each session the Coaches will lead students through practice of various types so that all general aspects of the game are covered.  One session a practice may include ball striking and wedges, the next session would be putting, chipping & pitching.  The sessions are designed as a compliment to other SAGA programs and for practice – instruction is not a major aspect of the sessions.

Parent who play the game are encouraged to attend with their child and the second attendee will receive a 1/3 discount.  ** Structured Practice Sessions are limited to 20 students and DO NOT include any of the Academy playing & range benefits.

Individual Contracts – Contracts for Private Lessons may be arraigned with Coach Grant Dalpes, PGA on a individual basis.  This type of instruction is designed for the serious student who is Intermediate to Advanced and is looking at playing College Golf and striving for a golf scholarship.  If interested ask Coach Grant for details.

Santa Ana Junior Golf Academy--  Skill Level Descriptions

Introductory Level
This student is new to the game or has little experience in hitting balls and no real concept of the strategy of the game or how it is played. They may have hit golf balls at a driving range or had an introductory class at school but have never been in a formal golf class at a golf course.

Beginner Level
This student has limited experience with the game but has been in junior golf 1 or 2 times/years.  They have not been able to play the game without a tremendous amount of direction and help.  They have yet to demonstrate significant consistency in the golf fundamental skills of Posture, Grip & Alignment (PGA), putting, chipping, pitching and full swing.   All juniors under the age of 10 are considered Beginner Level unless they get a waiver from the Coach that verifies they are ready to move up to the intermediate level.  This is because the fundamentals and maturity are both taken into account at the Intermediate Level.

Intermediate Level
This student has participated in organized junior golf, lessons, academies and practice for 3-5 years and demonstrates consistency in the fundamental golf skills of Posture, Grip & Alignment (PGA), putting, chipping, pitching and full swing.  This student is able to play a minimum of nine holes without direction and they spend time practicing all aspects of the game.  They have the maturity to understand or better learn the concept and strategy of the game as well as the mental aspects involved in game management.

Advanced Level
This player demonstrates significant consistency in the fundamental golf skills of Posture, Grip & Alignment (PGA), putting, chipping, pitching and full swing.  They play the game regularly and participate in organized junior events or tournaments.  They understand the concept & strategy of the game and work at improving the mental and game management aspects of the game.
